FishIn: Fishing Log & Spots ("FishIn", "the app") is made by an independent developer in North Macedonia. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and the choices you have.
What stays on your phone
- Your saved spots and their notes, and your photos (unless you use FishIn Pro photo backup, below).
- Your location. It is used on the phone to show where you are on the map and to find spots near you.
Your catch log and tackle box
- Your catch log (species, size, weight, where and when you caught it, the lure, notes and the conditions) and your tackle box are saved to your FishIn account, so they come back when you sign in on a new phone. Only you can see them: they are never shown to other users unless you share a catch.
- Photo backup (FishIn Pro): with Pro, your catch and lure photos are also saved to our server, reduced in size. When Pro ends, no new photos are backed up and the saved ones are deleted 90 days later.
- Signing out removes the log and tackle box from the phone; signing in brings them back.
What is sent to make features work
- Weather and forecasts: the coordinates of the spot you look at are sent to Open-Meteo to fetch weather data.
- Maps and satellite imagery: the map is Google Maps. The area you view is loaded from Google, which receives your device's IP address and the map area like for any Google Maps app. Google's Privacy Policy applies to it.
- AI features (FishIn Pro): the spot, weather and fish details for a forecast brief or lure advice, and a lure photo you choose to scan, are sent through our server to Google's Gemini service. We keep a daily count of AI requests per account to enforce limits, not the requests themselves.
Your FishIn account
- Every install gets an anonymous account (a random ID), so shared features work without signing up.
- If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile photo from Google. You choose a username. Your name, username, photo and bio are visible to other FishIn users.
- Spots you share are visible to everyone or only to your friends, as you choose: the name and location only. Your notes are never shared.
- Catches you share show the species, size, lure, your caption, an optional photo and a place name you choose. Their exact location is never shared.
- Reviews you give map spots and shared spots (stars, ratings and an optional note) are saved to your account. Other users only see each spot's average stars and number of reviews, never your review itself. Reviews of your private spots stay on the phone.
- Your friends list, likes, comments, reports and blocks are stored to provide those features.
Purchases
FishIn Pro is sold through Google Play. We never see your payment details. We store the Google Play purchase token, the product and the expiry date to know whether your subscription is active.
Where data is stored and who processes it
Account, catch log, tackle box and community data is stored with Supabase on servers in Frankfurt, Germany. Our API server, which also keeps Pro photo backups, runs on Oracle Cloud in Frankfurt. Service providers: Supabase, Oracle, Google (Sign-In, Play Billing, Gemini, Maps) and Open-Meteo.
We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising. FishIn has no ads and no third-party analytics or tracking.
Keeping and deleting data
- You can delete your account in the app under Settings › Account › Delete account. This removes your profile, catch log, tackle box, photo backup, shared spots, posts, comments and friends. See how to delete your account.
- Anonymous accounts with nothing saved (no catches, tackle, shared spots or purchase) are deleted automatically after 90 days without use.
- Data saved on your phone is removed when you uninstall the app.
Security
All connections are encrypted (HTTPS). Access to stored data is limited by per-user rules in the database, and only you can change what you share.
Children
FishIn is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Your rights and contact
You can see, correct or delete your data in the app at any time. For any other request, contact us at the email address shown on FishIn's Google Play page. If this policy changes, the date at the top is updated.
